Although we believe that all of these products are good, it is important to remember that you must follow them to achieve positive results, and also that there is more scientific research behind some than others. Also, everyone’s body is different and, therefore, the product that works best for one user many not be the best for another. Weight loss and fitness take time.

Clearly, exercise is highly important to good health. Every scientific study I have ever read indicates that your risk of any disease decreases with exercise so even when I weighed 104 pounds I exercised every day for about an hour. That is partly why I weighed 104 pounds, but I truly believe that exercise is in and of itself very important. Its relationship to weight loss depends a lot on consistency, effort, and time. Since I like to eat, I prefer to put in the time to to do serious exercise than to drastically cut calories. However, a leisurely 10 minutes walk may not make the difference you want in your weight.

Good nutrition is also extremely important. Basically, if you were to follow a balanced diet with as much natural, unprocessed food as possible, you will probably lose weight. There is enough research to indicated that carbohydrates should mostly be obtained from fruit and vegetables and that gluten should be minimized. For the vast majority of people, that’s all that is required. However, following those rules consistently is not easy for most of us.

Therefore, I do everything I can to make things easier. I usually follow a commercial diet and exercise program.  They often include assistance with record keeping, getting rid of unhelpful habits, recipes and exercise equipment. I change them every so often to relieve boredom.

Auxiliary weight loss products such as appetite suppressants have worked well for me. Products like whey for building muscle have also worked for me. Scientific data for these products is generally not as extensive as for nutrition and exercise but that doesn’t mean they don’t help.

I have also successfully used hypnosis to keep my attitude and motivation up. Hypnosis has worked well for me for other problems such as an intense dislike of trigonometry but that’s another story.

Some people are helped  greatly by bariatic surgery. However, even with that, the results vary. You still have to eat less, stick to a nutritious diet, and preferably exercise. It’s an aid, but not a total solution.
